Report: EJ Manuel ready, expected to start for Bills in Week 1
At one point, it appeared as though Jeff Tuel would be the starting quarterback in Buffalo. That reportedly is no longer the case.
First-round draft pick EJ Manuel, who has been out after minor knee surgery, is "healthy and ready to go for Week 1," and Bills coach Doug Marrone is expected to name him the starting quarterback Wednesday, according to Foxsports.com.
It’s probably a good move for Buffalo if Manuel is healthy enough, especially considering Manuel was on his way to beating out Kevin Kolb for the No. 1 job before Kolb suffered another concussion and considering Tuel struggled last year for a downtrodden Washington State squad.
Manuel and Tuel have been sharing reps at practice this week, and it seemed as though Manuel was getting healthier.
"It’s tough because it’s the coach’s decision, and a lot of it is on EJ and how he’s feeling as well," Tuel said earlier this week. ”It’s not so much in my hands; I’m just doing what I can control and doing the best to my abilities. I’ll just leave it at that, leave it in coach’s hands."
