Former Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez, currently in jail awaiting trial on first-degree murder charges in the shooting death of Odin Lloyd, is being investigated for allegedly threatening to shoot and kill a correctional officer at the Bristol (Mass.) County House of Corrections late last year, according to TMZ.

Per the report, an ex-inmate told investigators that Hernandez never threatened the officer, but noted that the former NFL player was losing weight and "would run various schemes to get extra food." The correctional officer who put an end to Hernandez's effort for extra food was allegedly threatened by Hernandez.

TMZ adds that Hernandez was written up over the incident.

Last month, Hernandez was set to be charged with assault and battery for his role in a February altercation with another inmate that resulted in 30 days in isolation.
