UPDATE: Police say MJD has not been charged with a crime

Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew allegedly struck a security guard at the Conch House restaurant in St. Augustine, Fla., over the Memorial Day weekend and has been charged with battery, TMZ is reporting.

In the police report obtained by TMZ, authorities say the closed-fisted punch thrown by MJD was intentional, landed on the security guard's left cheek, and knocked him out.

More details from TMZ:

According to the police report, witnesses say ... MJD's buddy was told by security to stop touching a young female. The buddy allegedly "slapped" a security guard on his chest ... and a melee ensued.
One of the security guards reportedly put MJD's friend in a headlock to stop the fight ... and that's when MJD stepped in and clocked the guard.
After the incident, the security guard spoke with police -- and cops noted that the guy's jaw was "swollen a great deal and had a large lump on his jaw bone."

The security guard was reportedly hospitalized after the incident but had no broken bones.

The Florida Times-Union's Ryan O'Halloran tweeted this update Tuesday afternoon:

And MJD's agent told O'Halloran: "To be clear, Maurice was not involved in any verbal or physical altercation whatsoever and we are confident that in due time the facts will demonstrate as much."

Jones-Drew is coming off his worst season in the NFL. A foot injury limited him to six games, and he managed just 414 yards on 86 carries and scored two touchdowns. The eighth-year running back out of UCLA didn't participate in Jaguars' workouts earlier this month but the hope is that he will be ready for training camp.
