Report: Johnny Manziel to meet with Jaguars on Tuesday
Johnny Manziel is earning some serious frequent flier miles this month. The former Texas A&M quarterback is reportedly headed for Jacksonville after spending two days in Oakland.
The Johnny Manziel pre-draft tour is slowly zig-zagging its way across the country. Johnny Football met with Bill Belichick and the Patriots last week, then after a brief pitstop at the Final Four in Texas, Manziel moved onto Oakland over the weekend where he met with the Raiders.
Chad Henne isn't exactly a player you can build your franchise around, so it wouldn't be a complete shock to see Jacksonville take a quarterback with the third overall pick.
Jaguars coach Gus Bradley, who's going into his second season with the team, has slowly been turning Jacksonville into Seattle-south. The former Seahawks defensive coordinator has brought several former Seattle players to Jacksonville, including defensive end Chris Clemons, who signed with the Jaguars in March.
There's so many former Seahawks players in Jacksonville that Seaguars is a thing that's happening on Twitter.
If Bradley wants to continue transforming his team into a Seattle-clone, then drafting Manziel makes sense because Johnny Football is similar to Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson. Not only that, but some experts actually think Manziel is a better prospect. Draft expert Mike Mayock said in late March that Manziel is a better thrower than Wilson was coming out of college.
In our latest round of 2014 NFL Mock Drafts here at CBSSports.com, none of our five writers have Manziel going to Jacksonville. As a matter of fact, only one of our writers have the Jaguars selecting a quarterback with the third overall pick and that's Pete Prisco, who's projecting that Jacksonville takes Central Florida quarterback Blake Bortles.
