Report: Julio Jones' brother loses arm from gunshot wound
The brother of Falcons wideout Julio Jones was shot on Tuesday, and a relative told Fox 10 in Alabama that Phillip Jones lost his arm as a result of the shooting.
The brother of Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones was shot in the arm in Gulf Shores, AL on Tuesday, police confirmed to The Atlanta Journal Constitution.
Phillip Jones, 31, was transported from South Baldwin Urgent Care to another medical center in Alabama before being life-flighted to a hospital in Pensacola, Florida.
Fox 10 TV in Alabama, citing one of his relatives, reported that Jones’ arm had to be removed as a result of the shooting.
Gulf Shore PD’s preliminary investigation determined that 53-year-old George Bennett Sutton had shot Jones, and he was booked at a Gulf Shore police detention center for felony for first degree assault. The investigation is still ongoing, however.
It’s the second time in the past two weeks that a brother of one of the Falcons’ receivers had been shot. Just 11 days ago, Roddy White’s half-brother Tyrone Moore was fatally shot outside a nightclub in South Carolina.
A funeral for Moore was last Thursday.
