Report: Larry Fitzgerald 'very happy' Cardinals landed Carson Palmer
Larry Fitzgerald is reportedly 'very happy' the Arizona Cardinals landed Carson Palmer. And who can blame him?
Palmer's obviously thrilled to get out of the sinking ship that is Oakland, and he's not the only one who's happy. According to Peter King of Sports Illustrated, Cards wideout Larry Fitzgerald is "really happy" with the move.
Source close to Fitzgerald told me, "He thinks this was the best option for the team to be competitive. He's really happy."— Peter King (@SI_PeterKing) April 2, 2013
This isn't stunning at all. Fitzgerald's been in wide receiver hell ever since Kurt Warner decided to hang up his cleats, having caught passes from Derek Anderson, Max Hall, John Skelton, Kevin Kolb, Ryan Lindley and Brian Hoyer.
But the mere mention of Kolb's name should remind Fitzy not to get too comfortable too quickly: Trading for Palmer is nice and all, but the last time the Cards went out and made a splash on the veteran quarterback market, things did not work out ... well.
Then again, the other option is rolling with Drew Stanton as the starter or burning the No. 7 pick on someone like Geno Smith (and therefore being unable to draft an offensive lineman in the first round).
Nothing is particularly appealing, but at the least the Cardinals are being proactive.
