Report: Rams contacted Brett Favre about coming out of retirement
The Rams have contacted -- wait for it -- Brett Favre about returning to the NFL after the team lost starter Sam Bradford for the season to an ACL injury.
Apparently, Brady Quinn and Austin Davis, signed by the Rams in recent days after starter Sam Bradford was lost for the season to an ACL injury, aren't the only quarterbacks on the Rams' radar. The team has also called -- wait for it -- Brett Favre, the 44-year-old future Hall of Famer who now spends his days as the quarterbacks coach at Oak Grove (Miss.) High School.
But it's not happening.
And his agent conveyed a similar message to the Rams: Favre's NFL gunslingin' days are firmly behind him.
CBS NFL Insider Jason La Canfora reports that "Multiple members of the organization declined to comment on the ESPN report [regarding] Brett Favre. No one flatly denied it -- which is telling -- but expressed that the team did not comment on its pursuit of replacements for Sam Bradford during the process and would not be doing so after the fact."
But hey, Jeff Garcia's still available.
In the meantime, Kellen Clemens will be the Rams' starting quarterback.
