With a number of Seahawks players in trouble the past few seasons for failed positive PED tests, the team reportedly has released the backup quarterback who was arrested this month on suspicion of DUI.

That would be Josh Portis, who was arrested May 5 and is scheduled to be arraigned May 28.

Though Portis’ agent, JR Rickert, was adamant Portis was not arrested -- that tweet has since been deleted -- the Seahawks cut him Tuesday, according to the Everett Herald.

Portis sat behind Russell Wilson and Brady Quinn on the quarterback depth chart, and he’s never played in an NFL game. He signed with Seattle as an undrafted free agent in 2011, but he spent some of last season on the practice squad before the team released him in November. The Seahawks re-signed him this past offseason.

On May 5, a Washington state trooper allegedly clocked Portis driving 80 mph in a 60 mph zone, and after pulling him over, wrote that Portis smelled like alcohol and had bloodshot eyes.

More from the police report: “Portis asked me if I knew who he was and I stated yes. [The car’s passenger] exited the vehicle and began to cry. [The passenger] stated I was arresting a Seahawk, and I was going to ruin him. … [The passenger] shouted at me and stated she couldn't believe that I was from Seattle, and was arresting a Seahawk.”
