Matt Flynn losing a quarterback competition is starting to become an annual thing. For the second year in a row, Flynn has lost a starting job to a less experienced player.

Terrelle Pryor will be the Raiders starting quarterback in Oakland's regular season opener against the Colts, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. Raiders coach Dennis Allen informed Flynn and Pryor of the decision on Monday morning.

The decision isn't a complete shock, Raiders offensive coordinator Greg Olson was impressed by Pryor after Oakland's third preseason game, "When you see Terrelle in a game, he just looks faster than the other players on the field," Olson said after the Raiders 34-26 loss to the Bears. "He is a tremendous athlete, and he's got the ability to make plays. Right now we're looking for playmakers."

Pryor was 7-of-9 for 93 yards and a touchdown in the loss, a much better showing than Flynn, who threw two interceptions in six pass attempts.

Pryor's only made one career start for the Raiders in his two seasons with the team. The 24-year-old quarterback started Oakland's 2012 regular season finale in December, a 24-21 loss to the Chargers. In that game, Pryor threw for 150 yards and two touchdowns while adding 49 yards and another touchdown on the ground.

As for Flynn, he may want to avoid all future quarterback competitions. Last season, the 28-year-old lost the battle for the Seahawks starting job to Russell Wilson
