Reports: Cameron Wake tears Achilles, out for season
The Dolphins think Cameron Wake tore his Achilles on Thursday.
The Dolphins suffered a bad loss to the Patriots on Thursday, getting thumped 36-7 at Gillette Stadium. They suffered a bigger loss in terms of personnel, with stud defensive end Cameron Wake getting carted off with an Achilles injury.
Those injuries are quite often long term and it looks like Wake's is a season ender.
According to multiple reports, Wake tore his Achilles while trying to rush Tom Brady Thursday.
If Cameron Wake's injury is as bad as some suspect, he tried to rush the passer with it ... https://t.co/5lJg0LYerg

It looked like Wake tore his Achilles. Similar to Arian Foster of the Texans (against the Dolphins last week), Wake stopped short while making his move. The play had a very "pop" injury appearance to it.
This is a massive blow to Miami's rejuvenated defense. Under Joe Philbin, Wake was silent and held without a sack. Unleashed in his old form in Dan Campbell's defense, Wake piled up a whopping seven sacks in the last three games, while forcing four fumbles.
Olivier Vernon can fill in as best he can and having Ndamukong Suh on the roster is nice, but missing Wake will take a huge toll on the Dolphins' defense.
Wake has the third-most sacks in the NFL since 2009, behind only DeMarcus Ware and Jared Allen.
