Richie Incognito: Ted Wells slanted case against me, did it to Tom Brady
Richie Incognito doesn't think Ted Wells does things fairly.
Before Ted Wells began investigating Deflategate this year, he was involved in one other NFL investigation.
The league hired Wells in November 2013 to look into bullying allegations that Jonathan Martin had made against a few of his Dolphins teammates.
After a four month investigation, Wells released a report in February 2014. The report concluded that Richie Incognito, John Jerry and Mike Pouncey all "engaged in a pattern of harassment directed" at Martin.
A year and a half later, Incognito still takes issue with the report that his lawyer called "replete with errors."
In an interview with Newsday, Incognito says that Wells was out to get him and that it seems like Wells was also out to get Tom Brady during the four-month long Deflategate investigation.
"Ted Wells came in with a mission against me," Incognito said. "Ted Wells came in slanted against me and everything in his report was slanted against me. There were some things in there that would have helped my cause that were left out."
Incognito was then asked what specifically was left out.
"Teammate testimony, stuff like that," Incognito said. "You see that in Brady's case. There's a lot of stuff that got left out. There's a lot of misinformation."
Incognito isn't completely blaming Wells for everything though, he's also blaming the man who hired Wells: Roger Goodell.
"I just think it's bogus, the whole system in how it's set up with Roger and the complete, absolute power he has," Incognito said. "He has so much power and he hires independent investigators who come in and are obviously not independent. They come in with an agenda and they come in looking to find facts to back up their argument. All the facts are slanted in their favor."
Incognito was suspended by the Dolphins on Nov. 3, 2013 and still hasn't played in an NFL game in the 21 months since that suspension came down.
Although Incognito will be playing this season swith the Bills, he's still clearly bitter about the way the NFL treated him during the Martin investigation.
Former Dolphins offensive line coach Jim Turner also had some negative things to say about Wells recently.
Back in May, Turner didn't hold back when talking about the NFL's independent investigator.
"Wells is not a good human being," Turner said. "When I did not give him the story he wanted, he targeted me as a part of a problem in Miami. He's not an independent investigator. He's not looking at both sides of the situation."
Turner lost his job after the Wells report on the Dolphins was released in February 2014.
