Like most of us, Marshawn Lynch wants a raise. In fact, earlier this week there was a report that the Seahawks running back was contemplating retirement if he didn't get a new contract.
However, Lynch showed up Tuesday for the start of the Seahawks mandatory minicamp, and by doing avoided close to $70,000 in fines. ESPN.com's Terry Blount reports that Lynch wanted to avoid the fines and believes the team will negotiate with him in good faith.
Blount adds: "The running back's arrival comes as the team tries to work something out on his desired changes to his contract, sources confirmed."
Whether the Seahawks have any interest in giving Lynch, who is scheduled to make $10.5 million in base salary the next two seasons, more money is another matter. Especially since third-year running back Christine Michael could have a bigger role in the offense moving forward.
