It's no secret that the Broncos are looking for a starting quarterback. Peyton Manning retired, Brock Osweiler bolted for Houston, and Mark Sanchez, Trevor Siemian and rookie first-rounder Paxton Lynch are left to fight for the job.

As it stands, less than a month before training camp opens, Broncos safety T.J. Ward doesn't see much difference among the candidates.

"They've all worked with the 1s, 2s and 3s," Ward said. "We have seen them work with different receivers in the starting offense and second-string offense. I'm not sure. They all look well. ... Sometimes you really in practice have to see who threw the ball or who is starting with the 1's because they're pretty even."

On one hand, that's good news -- all three quarterbacks are playing at the same level. On the other hand, two of the quarterbacks have a combined one year of NFL experience and have never taken a regular-season snap, while the other quarterback is a former first-round pick who didn't pan out in two previous stops.

Ward's comments come a few weeks after Broncos coach Gary Kubiak said that Sanchez and Siemian were neck and neck.

Trevor and Mark have looked each other in the eyes the whole offseason," Kubiak said last month. "When I sit there and watch them practice, I think they're right there banging on each other. Those two guys are right there with each other. It's a very competitive situation. They're obviously ahead of our young guy right now from a mental standpoint."

As for Lynch, who will experience his first NFL training camp later this month, Kubiak added, "The young kid is extremely talented and young and does a lot of great things and then has his troubles."

However the depth chart shakes out, Sanchez, who has had his fair share of battles, is looking forward to the competition.

"Listen, I don't care who is there, what is going on right now," the former Jets and Eagles quarterback said back in April. "They are going to give me a fair shake, that's all I can ask for, a fair shot. I am good. Let's go. I will bet on myself and compete my butt off. I will be friendly and professional with whoever is there. But I want this bad. Really bad. I want what they experienced last year."
