Taylor Heinicke to return on Wednesday

The long await for the return of backup quarterback Taylor Heinicke is finally set to come to an end on Wednesday, as the former Old Dominion star is set to return to the practice field.

Heinicke was placed on the Non-Football Injury List prior to the start of the season after tearing two tendons in his foot following an altercation with an unfortunate door. The status of the door is unknown, but was likely retired following Heinicke's swift kick.

The 23-year-old had believed he would be on the practice field Monday, however General Manager Rick Spielman confirmed that his reactivation date would be pushed back with the Vikings undergoing a short session Monday morning.

Minnesota has 21 days to officially activate Heinicke before he is placed on Injured Reserve.
