Terrell Suggs seeking second opinion on possible biceps surgery
In Week 13, Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs suffered a torn biceps, but he missed only one game before returning to the team.
At the time, he said he would probably have to undergo offseason surgery, but now the Baltimore Sun writes that Suggs is seeking a second opinion to see if a surgery is even necessary.
It’s been a bad run of injuries for Suggs, who partially tore his Achilles tendon last offseason and missed the first seven games of the season rehabbing (the fact Suggs returned that quickly was awfully impressive). Another offseason of rehabbing an injury probably isn’t how Suggs wants to spend his time away from the field, but it might be necessary for a guy coming off the worst statistical regular season of his career (two sacks, 22 total tackles).
From the Sun: “Both injuries left Suggs without the power and explosion that has made him one of the NFL’s most feared pass rushers. … However, he was a difference maker in the playoffs with 21 tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble in the Ravens’ four victories.”
With the retirement of Ray Lewis and with the team potentially having to let go of Paul Kruger because of salary cap concerns, it’ll be important for Suggs to fill that linebacker leadership role that Lewis played so well.
And a Suggs with two healthy biceps is infinitely better than a Suggs with only one.
