The start to Cody Kessler's career as a Browns quarterback was inauspicious at best. The rookie out of Southern California was surprisingly drafted by Cleveland in the third round, and unfortunately shoved into action by Week 3 thanks to Robert Griffin III and Josh McCown suffering injuries.
His first drive against the Dolphins couldn't have gone worse.
He began things by getting a delay of game penalty on first down. Then, after successfully managing to snap the ball and hand it off to Isaiah Crowell for six yards, Kessler fumbled the next snap and fell on the ball.
Then on the following play, Kessler dropped back to pass and got drilled by Miami defensive end Cameron Wake. Spoiler: Kessler couldn't hold onto the ball and, as a result, turned it over on a strip sack.
So if you're scoring at home, Kessler's first drive went: delay of game, handoff, fumble, strip-sack fumble.
It's just as ugly when you look at it visually.
