The Tennessee Titans expect to retain RB Chris Johnson and assume the guaranteed portion of his 2013 contract, according to league sources.

Johnson is set to make $10 million in 2013, $9 million of which becomes guaranteed if he is on the roster five days after the Super Bowl. The team intends to exercise that, sources said, though they have yet to officially convey that to the player.

The formal transaction will become official this weekend, and at this point it would take a dramatic turn of events for the Titans not to keep him.
