The Tennessee Titans have reached a deal with Ray Horton to be their defensive coordinator, according to a league source.

Horton completed his first year as the Cleveland Browns defensive coordinator and is among the highest-paid assistant coaches in the game. But the Browns parted with head coach Rob Chudzinski after just one season and that allowed other coaches to explore outside opportunities.

Horton was a top choice of new Titans coach Ken Whisenhunt, and after working through some contractual issues this week, the sides struck a deal. Browns offensive coordinator Norv Turner has been in talks to serve in that role for new Vikings coach Mike Zimmer.

Horton was previously a coveted coordinator with the Cardinals, but left there after Whisenhunt was fired as head coach, and he interviewed for some head coaching jobs prior to taking the Browns defensive coordinator position.
