After 17 seasons of putting together what likely will be a Hall of Fame career, former tight end Tony Gonzalez has joined the CBS team this year as an NFL analyst.
But that didn't stop multiple teams from calling him this offseason to see if he was interested in trying to win his first Super Bowl ring. While Gonzalez declined to name those squads during a CBS conference call on Thursday, it's interesting (and not at all surprising) that the 38-year-old still would draw interest.
But Gonzalez also made it clear that he doesn't want to play. Probably.
"There is probably no chance of me coming back to play," Gonzalez said. "I don't want to play anymore, to tell you the truth. I've had my fill."
Asked specifically about the Patriots possibly contacting him, Gonzalez -- even if he feels healthy after finishing last season with an 83-catch, 859-yard, eight-touchdown performance with the Falcons -- said he wasn't interested in chasing a ring.
"If it didn't happen up to this point," Gonzalez said, "it's not going to happen now."
Not everybody necessarily believes Gonzalez, though.
Tony Gonzalez translated: "Yes, I'd come back in Week 10 for a team that looks like they could win a Super Bowl"
