Apparently Tim Tebow doesn't use the Internet. Or read newspapers. Or watch the news. Or get CBSSports.com mobile alerts sent to his phone.

At least he didn't this week because when Tebow was asked about the Riley Cooper situation on Friday, he played dumb -- or smart, depending on how you think someone should answer a loaded question about their former college roommate who was caught on video using a racial slur. 

Cooper was Tebow's roommate at Florida, so naturally, Tebow was asked his thoughts on Cooper's situation after practice on Friday, "I haven't seen everything that's happened," Tebow said, via the Boston Globe. "I've been pretty busy, I'm going to wait to comment until I hear what happened."

It will only take about 20 seconds for someone to tell Tebow what happened because that's how long the Cooper video lasts. Cooper was caught on video at a June 9 Kenny Chesney concert using a racial slur. 

Speaking of Cooper, the Eagles announced on Friday that he's been excused from team activities for the immediate future so that he can seek counseling.

Former NFL running back Brandon Jacobs thinks that the opposite of what Cooper's punishment should be. 

Here's a roundup of the most interesting news and notes from Friday, Aug. 2.

NFC West arms race

  • With Michael Crabtree out until at least November and 2012 first-round pick A.J. Jenkins quickly turning into a bust, the 49ers added veteran wide receivers Austin Collie and Lavelle Hawkins on Friday, both players were signed to one-year deals. If Collie, a former Colt, can stay healthy, he could be a solid addition to the 49ers receiving corps.

     
  • Not to be outdone, the Percy Harvin-less Seahawks went out and signed their own veteran wide receiver by bringing in Early Doucet. The former Cardinals receiver signed a one-year deal with the team, according to NFL.com. 

One Saints fan is in midseason form

There are fans who run on the field during games and then there's this guy, who ran on the field during practice -- PRACTICE, practice? He was mowed down by security when he tried to run on the field at the Saints practice on Friday. "The guy didn't even make it to the field, so we got some tight security out here," linebacker Junior Galette said, via the New Orleans Times-Picayune. "I don't know what was going through his head. He had to much beer."

Injury bug

  • Bills wide receiver Stevie Johnson will be out indefinitely after injuring his hamstring in practice. According to NFL.com, an MRI revealed a hamstring strain and it's unknown how long Johnson will be out. The Bills can't afford a big injury to Johnson, who had 475 more receiving yards last year than Buffalo's No. 2 receiver.

     
  • A.J. Green isn't the only Bengals wide receiver that's hurting, Andrew Hawkins is too. Hawkins, the Bengals third leading receiver in 2012, suffered a high ankle sprain on Thursday. Coach Marvin Lewis told the Bengals website on Friday that he doesn't know if Hawkins will be ready for the regular season opener. 

     
  • If you need a lesson in time management, talk to Seahawks receiver Sidney Rice. Rice flew all the way to Switzerland for 'platelet-rich plasma-like procedure for patellar tendonitis,' according to the Tacoma News Tribune. The procedure took all of 20 minutes. So to rehash, Rice flew 12 and a half hours to Switzerland for a 20-minute procedure, then flew 12 and a half hours back. Must have been some procedure.  

     
  • Jaguars running back Justin Forsett missed his second straight day of practice. Forsett sprained his toe on Thursday and spent Friday's practice in a walking boot, according to the Florida Times-Union. 

     
  • Giants first-round draft pick Justin Pugh will be spending the next few days on the sideline after suffering a concussion, according to the New York Post. Coach Tom Coughlin said that Pugh will be on the bench until he passes the team's concussion protocol tests. 

     
  • Steelers cornerback Cortez Allen underwent a minor surgery on his knee, the team announced. Coach Mike Tomlin said he expects Allen back on the field in a couple of weeks. 

OchoCincoTron

The former Ocho Cinco, Chad Johnson, was at Lions training camp. You probably don't need proof that he was there, but here it is anyway. 

Fight Club

Bears tight end Martellus Bennett was picking a fight with anyone and everyone on Friday, according to the Chicago Tribune. Bennett got into a scuffle with Major Wright, Chris Conte and Craig Steltz, then got into a second scuffle with Kelvin Hayden. "I am actually a mean person," Bennett said. "I know you all think I joke around and [stuff] but I am not. I am very aggressive. They are aggressive with me, I am aggressive with them. You come hard at me, I come hard at you all day. I mean, I don’t back down for anything, anyone."

Kickers get contracts too

  • Everyone's favorite Polish kicker got a contract extension on Friday. Sebastion Janikowski signed a four-year extension with the Raiders that will keep him in Oakland until 2017. 

     
  • Lets stick with kickers for a second because no one ever talks about them, so they probably have a low self esteem. Although Colts punter Pat McAfee probably doesn't. McAfee booted a 61-yard field goal during practice on Friday, according to the Indianapolis Star.

     
  • Not every kicker makes their kicks though, like Brandon Bogotay for instance. Bogotay missed a 41-yarder during the team's two-minute drill, according to the Akron Beacon-Journal. Bogotay is in a competition with veteran Shayne Graham to win the Browns kicking job. Of course winning the competition would mean playing for the Browns, so maybe he's losing on purpose.  

Hail to the Redskins

Even Mike Shanahan would have to agree that a quarterback with a surgically repaired knee playing on a wet field is a bad idea, so the Redskins did what any team in that situation would do: they brought in a helicopter to dry the field on Friday morning. 

Finally, training camp may sound glamorous, but it's not, just ask Redskins tight end Niles Paul. Paul took to Instagram to let everyone know that he's having some serious problems: he needs a haircut and someone is stealing his snacks.
