Victor Cruz joins Eli Manning at Duke workout
For New York Giants fans looking for a positive sign in the Victor Cruz saga, here's one: Cruz joined Eli Manning and a two other Giants receivers for a workout at Duke.
The Manning brothers and several receivers are at Duke working out with David Cutcliffe, who coached both players in college.
Cruz, a restricted free agent, is hoping to draw a huge contract from New York. Other teams have until April 19 to sign Cruz to an offer sheet, though there hasn't been any reported outside interest to this point.
Cruz and the Giants haven't yet struck a deal, though, despite Manning's offer to restructure his contract to bring Cruz back.
“If the Giants want to work something out, I am always up for listening and figuring out what I can do to help the cause," Manning said last month.
Still, it sounds as if Manning expects Cruz to again be in blue and white next season.
"I hope so," Manning told ESPN's Chris Mortensen about Cruz returning to the Giants. "I know he wants everything to get finished and be with the Giants and get back to work. It was great to get him here for a few days and I haven't seen these guys in a while."
Aside from Cruz, Hakeem Nicks and new Giants target Louis Murphy joined Manning at Duke.
