Von Miller closing in on historic sack streak
Come Week 10, Von Miller could find himself re-writing history (again).
The Broncos superstar has at least one half-sack in his last seven regular season games. He needs four more such outings to break the all-time record for consecutive games (10) with QB takedowns.
Second in the league with 7.5 sacks, Miller kept his streak alive last Thursday night, wrestling down quarterback Philip Rivers in a 21-13 loss to the Chargers.
Which, to say, is no easy task.
"It's always tough,” Miller said, per the team's website. "They did a great job of blocking up front. Philip did a great job of standing tight in the pocket and not dropping back too deep and getting the ball off. He's one of the best quarterbacks in the National Football League and he went out there and showed it today."
In just his sixth season, Miller's already established himself as the sport's most dominant defender and future Hall of Famer. He's earned every penny of the massive $114.5 million pact he signed in July.
Miller, the third-fastest player to notch 70 career sacks, was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Month for September. He also earned Player of the Week honors following his three-sack outing against the Colts in Week 2.
