Von Miller on J.J. Watt's new $100 million contract: 'He's underpaid'

We mentioned it on the latest Eye on Football Podcast (embedded below for your convenience): When news broke that the Texans and J.J. Watt agreed to a six-year, $100 million contract extension, everyone -- fans, media, television talking heads, and the entirety of social media -- thought Watt was worth every red cent.

Broncos linebacker Von Miller, who was taken second overall in 2011 -- nine picks before Watt -- takes it a step further.

"He's underpaid in my opinion," Miller said, according to USAToday.com's Lindsay Jones. "What he does for the Texans, no one else does that for their organization. None of the big-time quarterbacks that are getting the big-time deals do. J.J. Watt deserves a similar deal. He does everything on the field, everything off the field. It was well deserved. I think he should have gotten more."

Miller has two years left on his rookie deal, and although he's a different type of player than Watt, he's similarly disruptive. Miller suffered a torn ACL in late December but is primed to make a full recovery. And if he continues to play like one of the league's best pass rushers -- he ranked first among all 4-3 outside linebackers last season, according to Pro Football Focus-- he'll be looking for his big payday, too.

Negotiations could be complicated by off-field issues -- Miller was suspended for the first six games of the 2013 season -- but for now the linebacker doesn't seem concerned.

"We've got great guys in the front office," he said. "I've got great guys that represent me. I'll let them take care of it."
