After watching Colin Kaepernick play one half of football against the Bills, 49ers fans are probably starting to wonder why Chip Kelly didn't making a starting quarterback switch earlier in the season.

Kaepernick is off to hot start in Buffalo, where he's thrown for 135 yards in less than two quarters of action. That total includes a 53-yard touchdown pass thrown to Torrey Smith early in the second quarter.

It wasn't a perfect throw, but the 49ers will definitely take it, and that's mainly because the long passing game was almost non-existent with Blaine Gabbert under center. Going into Sunday's game, Smith, the 49ers' main deep threat, only had nine catches for 106 yards on the season.

With Kaepernick under center, Smith has already added three catches and 76 yards to that total in less than two quarters of action. Smith's touchdown gave the 49ers a brief 10-7 lead. However, the lead didn't last long because the 49ers haven't been able to stop LeSean McCoy.

With four minute left in the first half, McCoy had carried the ball 10 times for 84 yards and two touchdowns as the Bills held a 14-13 lead. However, McCoy went down late in the second quarter with what appeared to be a knee injury.

As for Kaepernick, he was 8 of 11 for 135 yards and a touchdown at the two-minute warning in the first half.

The 49ers quarterback hasn't been fazed by rowdy Bills fans, who made it clear before the game that they're not big fans of Kaepernick.
