Golden Tate's slow start to the season has been a huge drag on the Detroit Lions offense. Tate had caught 189 passes for 2,144 yards and 10 touchdowns during his first two years with the team, but had only 17 catches for 134 yards during the first five games of the 2016 season.

In the absence of tight end Eric Ebron and pass-catching back Theo Riddick, Tate absolutely exploded in Week 6 against the Rams. He finished with eight catches for 165 yards and a touchdown, and another touchdown that was overturned as it was eventually ruled that he was down at the 1-yard line.

Let's take a look at a couple big plays. First, the deep ball he caught and almost scored on:

Man, he just missed making it into the end zone there. That's the definition of a shoestring tackle.

No matter. He eventually made up for it with a game-tying score in the fourth quarter.

That kind of run after the catch has been missing from Tate's game (and the Lions offense in general) this season, and it's definitely a nice development for them. If they can just get all of their playmakers going at the same time, maybe they can actually start moving the ball with some consistency.
