By the time the 2014 NFL Draft rolled around, everyone knew the Houston Texans were taking Jadeveon Clowney with the No. 1 overall pick. It wasn't always that cut-and-dry though. They certainly considered a quarterback or quarterbacks.

You know what IS, quite literally, cut and dry though? The front page of the Houston Chronicle, which Texans beat writer John McClain had to eat because he lost a bet on the Texans taking a quarterback in the first round.

If I eat this every day ... it's actually quite tasty. I may eat the Chronicle every day and then it'll help me lose some weight. And then I'll write a diet book," McClain said.

The Texans certainly could've saved McClain's entrails by trading back into the first round and nabbing a quarterback like Teddy Bridgewater or Derek Carr. (OK they were never taking Carr.) They didn't, though, and actually only took a signal caller when Tom Savage was there in the fourth round. So it was snacks up for McClain as a result.

"And if I get sick and die, blame it on Rick Smith and Bill O'Brien."
