Week 1 best bets: Pete Prisco's strongest NFL picks
Picking all the games is tough, but here are three top picks for Week 1 in the NFL, led by the Titans getting 7½ from the Steelers.
We pick every game here at CBSSports.com, which, quite frankly, is tough to do and opens all of us up to a hailstorm of criticism. Picking winners is one thing, but doing every game, every week, against the spread is tough.
So in addition to that, I will highlight three games I really like each week, much like my colleague Jason LaCanfora.
It's a way to avoid the heat, right? Or will it bring even more of it?
Here are my three strongest picks for Week 1:
Titans (+7½) at Steelers
I think the Steelers will eventually be a good team, but Week 1 will be a tough battle for that offensive line against an aggressive Tennessee front. The Titans will move the ball with their own revamped offensive line to keep this close. Getting more than a touchdown? That's crazy.
Falcons (+3½) at Saints
The Falcons are the most overlooked team in the league. They were explosive on offense last season, and should be again. The Saints have defensive issues. So do the Falcons. That means a shootout. Last team with the ball wins, and I think that's the Falcons.
Patriots (-9½) at Bills
I just can't see a rookie passer making his first NFL start against Bill Belichick doing much here. That's E.J. Manuel, who will start for the Bills. Belichick will confuse him all game long. The Bills aren't exactly great in the secondary either, which will let Tom Brady light them up. Patriots roll.
