Whaley to assume Bills' GM role from Nix on Thursday
Doug Whaley, who has been groomed as Buddy Nix's replacement, will promoted to Bills general manager on Thursday, according to league sources.
The Buffalo Bills plan to name Doug Whaley their new general manager on Thursday, according to a league source.
Whaley was identified as the successor to outgoing GM Buddy Nix after the 2012 season and has been groomed for the promotion.
Nix's departure was not a surprise (he is now in a consulting role) and Whaley has developed a strong relationship with executive Russ Brandon, who is in essence the acting owner with Ralph Wilson aging and often in his Detroit home.
Whaley came up through the Steelers ranks, working under their esteemed GM Kevin Colbert.
