Will John Fox coach the Broncos from the field or the press box?
Now that John Fox is back as the head coach of the Broncos, the next question is: where will he be on Sunday?
One month and one day ago, Broncos coach John Fox underwent heart surgery after feeling light-hearted while playing a round of gold during the team's bye week. This week, he's returning to coach the team to relieve interim Jack Del Rio, and as of a few days ago, Fox felt tremendous since coming back to work.
Now, the next question becomes: where will Fox coach on Sunday? On the sidelines? In the press box? Where?
It's undecided at this point, but if you read this Denver Post story on the matter, it seems as though he might be headed to the press box. At least for this week's Titans game. Assuming all goes well this weekend, the thought is that Fox might coach from the sidelines in Week 15 vs. the Chargers.
The Post explains further:
From the coaches' box, Fox's headset would have direct communication with his three coordinators -- Jack Del Rio (defense), Adam Gase (offense) and Jeff Rodgers (special teams) -- who always work from the sideline.
The only question would be who would throw the red challenge flag for him.
"I don't think it is a tremendous effect one way or another," Fox said. "I communicate with the same people. I spent half of my career in the press box (as assistant coach and defensive coordinator) and another half on the field."
As for the red-flag question, you'd have to assume Del Rio would again get the call to figure out when to challenge a play.
