Willie Colon, D'Brickashaw Ferguson ejected after Patriots-Jets brawl
Willie Colon and D'Brickashaw Ferguson were ejected Thursday night during a Patriots-Jets brawl at the end of the game.
Thursday night's Patriots-Jets game -- a 13-10 win for the Pats -- was sloppy with a capital S, but it got really ugly late when a brawl broke out between the two teams following Nick Mangold's low hit on Aqib Talib. Said brawl eventually resulted in Willie Colon and D'Brickashaw Ferguson being ejected.
Talib intercepted Geno Smith for what was essentially the game-ending play but instead of falling to the ground or darting out of bounds, Talib danced around near the sidelines for a bit. Mangold clearly took exception to this and dove at him. The play, frankly, looked pretty cheap.
Obviously some folks on the field agreed because a brawl broke out soon. The Patriots didn't appreciate Mangold's move and went after him. Once Colon saw that he sprinted over, through a ref and went after some Pats players.
"I saw my brothers in there, so [I ran over]," Colon said after the game.
He also admitted that he hit the ref and said that he hopes he doesn't "get suspended" as a result.
“I hope I don’t get suspended. I lost my temper. I lost my cool. I know better, so it’s my fault," Colon said.
Ferguson was also ejected for throwing a punch. He won't be suspended but you can bet he'll end up getting tagged for a fine since things "got out of hand."
"I just think it got out of hand and ended in a ejection, which isn't what you are looking for," Ferguson said.
