With the season winding down you can almost smell the gumbo down in New Orleans, home of Super Bowl XLVII. However, before we get to the Big Easy and even before the postseasos begins we must determine who is this season's MVP. The NFL Monday QB crew had a few names to choose from but narrowed it down to these three guys.
Peyton Manning – Just when you count Peyton Manning out with a little bit of nerve damage in his neck, he comes back to kick butt after a season off. He's like a football version of the Terminator. Change his jersey, change his city, change his teammates and he just keeps on kicking. Manning has 31 TD's against 10 interceptions and has led the Denver Broncos to nine-straight wins to become AFC West division champs and grab a solid second seed in the AFC playoff picture.
With nine wins in a row Manning is out there making John Elway look like the executive of the year and the entire team believes they can make it to the Super Bowl, according to Phil Simms.
Adrian Peterson – “MVP Awards are biased to the quarterback, which is unfortunate. They make it hard for other players to win it, but I will,” Adrian Peterson told the Associated Press. In pure prophecy form, Peterson said this before he rushed for 212 yards in a 36-22 win over the St. Louis Rams. He is now on pace to break Erick Dickerson's 30 year-old single-season rushing record of 2,105 yards. Did I mention Peterson is doing this nearly a year after he tore the ACL and MCL in his left knee? A.D. is 188 yards from becoming the seventh 2,000-yard rusher in history and is competing for the Comeback Player of the Year award with Peyton Manning.
Adam and Rich Gannon actually have MVP votes, unlike the rest of our esteemed panel, and they are going with Adrian “All Day” Peterson.
Tom Brady- It wouldn't be MVP voting if Brady's name wasn't in the conversation. Even in a Week 15 loss to the 49ers, he led all QB's with 443 yards while the New England Patriots sit atop of the AFC.
Don't like our list? Got some other names you want to see up there? Or do you just have something to say to the gang? Either way, drop us a note in the comment section, on Twitter @NFLMondayQB or on Facebook. Promise we won't bite.
