Buccaneers' John Wolford: Back with Tampa Bay
Tampa Bay signed Wolford (illness) to a one-year deal Friday, Buccaneers' general manager Jason Licht reports.
After spending the end of last season on the Buccaneers' practice squad, Wolford has agreed to return to Tampa Bay in 2024. The 28-year-old quarterback has appeared in seven games (four starts) throughout his three-year NFL career, completing 61 of his 104 passes for 626 yards, one touchdown and five interceptions. It seems as if Wolford is past the illness he was dealing with towards the end of last year, and he'll likely have the opportunity to compete for Tampa Bay's backup quarterback role with Kyle Trask this offseason.

Buccaneers' John Wolford: Won't suit up
Wolford (illness) is inactive Sunday against the Lions.
Wolford came down with the illness Friday when he first popped up on the team's injury report. Although he likely would have been inactive for the divisional-round matchup under any circumstance, he probably would have dressed as an emergency third option. Instead, it'll be just Kyle Trask behind starter Baker Mayfield against Detroit.

Wolford (illness) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Lions.
Wolford popped up on the injury report as DNP on Friday due to the illness. He's not going to be anything more than the emergency third quarterback even if he is deemed healthy enough to be active Sunday.

Buccaneers' John Wolford: Available in emergency role
Wolford (coach's decision) is inactive for Monday's wild-card game against the Eagles but is available as the emergency quarterback, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
The fourth-year pro will only be allowed to enter the game if Tampa Bay's first two quarterbacks, Baker Mayfield and Kyle Trask, have to exit due to injury or ejection. Wolford has yet to appear in a game this season. The quarterback has seven career appearances and one touchdown pass.

Buccaneers' John Wolford: Inactive Sunday
Wolford (coach's decision) is inactive ahead of Sunday's game against the Colts, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
The 28-year-old will serve as Tampa Bay's emergency third quarterback, and he's able to play if both Baker Mayfield and Kyle Trask get injured or disqualified in Sunday's contest. Wolford's last in-game action came in 2022, when he stepped in for an injured Matthew Stafford in Los Angeles.
