Report: Favre return 'highly unlikely': Brett Favre's return to play in 2010 is "highly unlikely," according to ESPN, who spoke with Favre after he and the Vikings lost to the Saints in the NFC title game. He told a larger group of reporters after the game that he would take time to talk over his future with his family before making a decision on whether to return for a 20th NFL season. Favre also said he did not expect to take long to make a decision. "I wouldn't say months," Favre said when asked for a timetable. "I know people are rolling their eyes or will roll their eyes. In a situation like this, I really don't want to make a decision right now based on what's happened, because I do know the year could not have gone any better aside from us not going to Miami. I really enjoyed it, to be honest. Just wondering if I can hold up, especially after a day like today. Physically and mentally. That was pretty draining. I am going to go home, [take] a couple of days and just talk it over with the family." (Updated 01/25/2010).

Fantasy Analysis
Favre, 40, had a tremendous season with the Vikings despite falling apart in the NFC Championship Game. Favre passed for 4,202 yards during the season with 33 touchdowns and just seven interceptions. If he returns, he would be considered a low-end No. 1 Fantasy QB worth a mid-round pick. His upside would be his receiving corps of Sidney Rice, Percy Harvin, Bernard Berrian, Visanthe Shiancoe and a tremendous offense around him with a solid offensive line. His downside would be his age and durability since it's hard to count on a QB who will turn 41 during the season. Still, he showed in 2009 he's worth the risk, so stay tuned to see what he decides to do. (Updated 01/25/2010).
QB Brett Favre was asked if he would take a few months to make up his mind but said that won't be the case. "I would not say months," Favre said. "But I know people will roll their eyes. In a situation like this really I don't want to make a decision right now based solely on what's happened. "I do know the year could not have gone any better aside from us not going to Miami (for the Super Bowl). I really enjoyed the guys. I wonder if I can hold up, especially after a day like (Sunday) physically and mentally. That was pretty draining. I am going to go home in a couple of days and talk it over with the family." He did tell ESPN's Ed Werder after Sunday's game that a return in 2010 was "highly unlikely." 12/5/2010
There is a lot more than wins and losses riding on Favre's decision on whether to play a second season for the Minnesota Vikings. Favre's first season in Minnesota was a banner year in more ways than one. The Vikings won 12 games in the regular season and came achingly close to advancing to the Super Bowl. 02/02/2010
They didn't just win a Super Bowl, the Saints carved a path through three championship QBs on their way. With Warner, Favre and Manning left hurting, New Orleans earns its respect, Clark Judge says.
Two weeks after intercepting Brett Favre to help the Saints win the NFC title, his pick-six of Peyton Manning clinches Super Bowl XLIV. It's safe to say Tracy Porter, a Louisiana native, has endeared himself to Saints fans for life, Larry Holder says.
Adrian Peterson had a second straight phenomenal season in 2009, but Fantasy owners are a bit nervous about his fumbling issues. Our Dave Richard caught up with Peterson, who will address his ball security this offseason.
Darren Sharper joined the Saints and gave their defense the leadership and big-play capability they needed. Now coming off perhaps his finest season, he's looking forward to matching wits with Peyton Manning in Super Bowl XLIV, Lesley Visser says.
It won't be close. Super Bowl XLIV is not a classic in the making, unless you are looking for a vintage Peyton Manning precision performance, picking apart the Saints to the tune of a big Colts victory, Clark Judge says.
