The Dolphins have released wide receiver Brandon Gibson, the team announced Friday. Gibson was entering the final year of his three-year contract, but played in just 21 of a possible 32 games for Miami. He totaled 59 catches for 621 yards and four touchdowns.

The Dolphins will save $3.2 million in cap space for 2015 by cutting Gibson, according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.

Report: Dolphins expect some turnover at the wide receiver position
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com

The Dolphins have told people that there will be some turnover at the wide receiver position, leaving the fate of Mike Wallace, Brian Hartline and Brandon Gibson up in the air, per Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.

Miami has talked to Wallace's camp about the idea of taking a paycut next season. According to Jackson, a resolution won't likely come until his $3 million of his salary becomes guaranteed on March 15. Wallace had 67 catches for 862 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2014, but he was benched in the final game after reportedly getting in a halftime argument with team personnel. He will count $12.1 million against the salary cap next season.

Hartline signed a five-year, $30.775 million contract in 2013. His current cap number for 2015 is $7.3 million. He is coming off a disappointing season where he caught only 39 passes for 474 yards and two scores. Gibson's cap number for 2015 is $4.3 million. Both Hartline and Gibson have not been told what Miami plans to do with them.

Dolphins receivers too unreliable at this point
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com

The Dolphins have thrown the ball the 12th most times in the league this season, but haven't really focused on any one receiver enough for Fantasy owners to rely on them, an that looks like it will remain true down the stretch.

In Week 13 against the Jets Monday, Jarvis Landry once again led the team in receptions, with eight, however, he had just 68 yards to show for it. That was one fewer yard than Mike Wallace had on six catches, as both were targeted 11 times in the game. Brandon Gibson and Brian Hartline had just 17 and 9 yards respectively, in the win.

The Dolphins like the spread the ball around, and don't really have a traditional No. 1 receiver as a result. Entering Week 13, Wallace had played just 74.3 percent of the team's offense snaps, while Hartline led the way with 80.3 percent and Landry and Gibson came in at 58.7 and 41.4 percent. On any given week, any one of these four receivers can find the end zone or rack up decent yardage totals, but it's awfully hard to rely on any of them with the Fantasy playoffs looming.
