by Marty Gitlin |

The Redskins have announced 15 cuts, including one-time NFL starting offensive tackle Tony Pashos and backup running back Keiland Williams.

The other cuts are as follows: running back Jawan Jamison, wide receivers Skye Dawson, Nick Williams and Lance Lewis, tight end Emmanuel Ogbuehi, offensive linemen Tevita Stevens and Xavier Nixon, defensive linemen Chigbo Anunoby, Dominique Hamilton and Ron Brace, linebacker Vic So'oto, cornerback Chase Minnifield and safety Dejon Gomes.

Minnifield is the son of former Browns Pro Bowl cornerback Frank Minnifield. The younger Minnifield was projected as a middle-round pick out of Virginia in 2012, but went undrafted before signing with Washington.

Redskins running back depth chart starting to take shape
by Michael Hurcomb |

Redskins offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan said Roy Helu has secured the backup running back job to starter Alfred Morris. He added the remaining spots are "up for grabs" between Keiland Williams, Evan Royster and Chris Thompson.

"The only thing that’s been settled is Alf and Helu," Shanahan said Tuesday, per The Washington Post. "Everything else is up for grabs. We’ve got a good problem to have because I think there’s a bunch of guys there that can play in this league and that can help us. They’re gonna make us have to make a tough decision next week. And really, every play is gonna count for them."

Backup backs help Redskins bury Bills
by Marty Gitlin |

Keiland Williams and Chris Thompson are buried deep on the depth chart in the Redskins' backfield behind stud back Alfred Morris and dangerous Roy Helu. But when given the opportunity on Saturday against Buffalo, they displayed some pretty mean talent.

Williams rushed for 52 yards on just 8 carries and showed some burst with a 23-yard run around left end in the middle of the fourth quarter. He also scored on a 1-yard run. Thompson proved steady with 44 yards on 15 carries. He displayed plenty of speed and quickness with a 31-yard punt return.

Neither will usurp Morris as the featured back and Helu did nothing to hurt his standing as the backup with a performance in which he rushed for 70 yards on just 13 carries. But Williams and Thompson certainly raised their stock on Saturday.
