"He's another guy that's easy to throw to because he creates so much separation," Kaepernick said. "Very quick, very deceptive, and I'm happy he's on our side of the ball."
Thursday, in the 49ers' first training camp practice, we could see why Kaepernick was so pleased that the 49ers' traded a mid-round pick next year to Buffalo for Johnson. He was all over the field and he was one of the bright lights of Day 1 of the 49ers' training camp.
The report says Johnson could be a huge key for the 49ers as Kaepernick tries to take their offense to the next level in 2014. Johnson is set to be the No. 3 receiver behind Anquan Boldin and Michael Crabtree.
When speaking about the new additions to the
"Brandon Lloyd has been out there every day, has done a great job of taking advantage of his opportunities," Roman said before adding, "
Johnson is among several 49ers receivers not practicing during minicamp. That's helped Lloyd land first-team reps opposite Anquan Boldin. Lloyd has impressed and should have a good chance to make the roster and perhaps serve as a third receiver.

Johnson figures to open the season as the No. 4 option behind Crabtree, Boldin and Davis.
When you're the top receiver in Buffalo, you have a shot at 1,000 yards and lots of catches. But when you get traded from that spot to one where you're just another fish in a pond, your chances of being a stellar contributor decline. That's what's going on with
Johnson joins a Niners team ripe with receiving talent. Michael Crabtree is a stud outside threat, Anquan Boldin has made his living in the slot but can also work outside.
Answer: He's not. We've already seen his numbers tumble since his breakout 2010 season and last year his body didn't do him any favors after reportedly not working out during the offseason. We expect Johnson to play a complementary role with the Niners, more than likely in the slot. He's hard to get excited about. Johnson might be worth a late-round pick in drafts this summer.
