Steve Johnson makes his one catch count
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com

49ers receiver Steve Johnson made a spectacular 12-yard touchdown catch in the win over the Eagles, tapping his toes just inside the pylon. It was Johnson's only reception on two targets.

He'll play the Chiefs in Week 5.

Steve Johnson complicates 49ers' receiving corps
by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer

After looking every bit like the third wide receiver for an offense that can't sustain three wide receivers in Weeks 1 and 2, catching a combined four passes for 39 yards, Steve Johnson came out of nowhere with nine catches for 103 yards Week 3 at Arizona, raising a bunch of questions about the 49ers receiving corps.

The offense still isn't built to sustain three wide receivers, but the only way we can count on any of them in Fantasy is if we figure out who's going to play the biggest role.

Michael Crabtree appears the one safe bet right now. He's had back-to-back good games and is obviously the most talented of the three. Anquan Boldin and Johnson, though, have been as predictable. Boldin had eight catches for 99 yards in Week 1, and Johnson obviously did what he did in Week 3. Incidentally, neither had a big game in Week 2, when quarterback Colin Kaepernick did a fine job spreading the ball to tight ends Derek Carrier and Vernon Davis as well.

Maybe the answer is that the 49ers offense isn't built to sustain even two wide receivers. That's kind of the way I'm leaning right now. In deeper leagues, I'd prefer Boldin just because he plays so many of the team's snaps -- more than Crabtree, even -- but I'm not looking for either him or Johnson on the waiver wire right now.

Steve Johnson steps up for 49ers Week 3
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com

With tight end Vernon Davis sidelined Sunday, 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick needed to find another option in the passing game to make up for Davis' lost production. He found that option in wide receiver Steve Johnson, who had his best game since signing with San Francisco in the offseason.

Johnson totaled a team-high 103 receiving yards on nine catches during a 23-14 loss Week 3 at Arizona. He caught every target thrown his way and his longest reception was 32 yards.

Sunday was the ninth time in Johnson's career he surpassed 100 receiving yards and first time since Week 2 of last season with Buffalo. The 49ers are back in action Week 4 vs. Philadelphia.

49ers get offensive contributions
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com

The 49ers got contributions from a variety of players in their Week 2 loss to the Bears. Wideout Steve Johnson caught two of four targets for 26 yards, tight end Vance McDonald had a 9-yard reception and fullback Bruce Miller carried once for no gain.

Receiver Bruce Ellington was targeted once without a catch.

Steve Johnson checks in with two catches
by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com

San Francisco wide receiver Steve Johnson picked up two catches Sunday against the Cowboys.

Johnson wasn't a big part of the team's game plan, but made the most of his opportunities. He gained 33 yards on his two receptions, including a 21-yard catch. Johnson didn't make his first catch until late in the second quarter.

He'll take on the Bears Week 2.
