Redskins' Junior Galette: Set for surgery
by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com

Galette will have surgery to repair his torn right Achilles tendon, ruling him out for this season.

Galette's injury was revealed last week, but there remained a small hope that he may be able to avoid surgery and eventually play this year. However, upon since announcing his decision to undergo surgery, Galette can now be ruled out for the entire 2016 campaign, marking his second straight season lost due to an Achilles injury. With Galette sidelined once again, and Trent Murphy moving to defensive end, the Redskins will hope Preston Smith can build on his eight-sack rookie season while playing opposite Ryan Kerrigan at outside linebacker.

Redskins' Junior Galette: Placed on NFI list
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Redskins placed Galette (Achilles) on the non-football injury list Thursday, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.

This decision is a curious one considering Galette tore his Achilles earlier in the week, marking the second time he's suffered such an injury in less than one year. With few details known about the current concern, there may be a chance that he plays at some point in 2016. However, the injury appears to be a season-ending one.

Redskins' Junior Galette: Tears Achilles again
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Galette has suffered a torn Achilles and is expected to miss the upcoming season, NFL Network's Rand Getlin reports.

Galette tore his Achilles toward the end of training camp last year and it unfortunately appears he's suffered the same injury ahead of camp this year. While it's a crushing blow to the 28-year-old regardless, Galette injured his other Achilles this time around, The Washington Post reports. If there's a silver lining, it's that the Redskins are deep at outside linebacker, with Ryan Kerrigan, Preston Smith, Trent Murphy and rookie Su'a Cravens in tow, but having Galette available would have still been a welcomed boost going into this year.

Redskins' Junior Galette: Should be ready for camp
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Redskins head coach Jay Gruden said Galette (Achilles) should be ready for the start of training camp, Mike Jones of The Washington Post reports.

Released by the Saints last summer amid domestic violence allegations, Galette quickly caught on with Washington but then tore an Achilles toward the end of training camp. He served a two-game suspension while recovering from the injury, and all known charges/suits against him have either been dismissed or dropped. The 28-year-old Galette hopes to regain the form that saw him record double-digit sacks for the Saints in 2013 (12.0) and 2014 (10.0), but it does appear he'll have to compete for snaps on a Washington defense that's well-stocked at outside linebacker. In addition to long-time starter Ryan Kerrigan, the Redskins have 2015 second-round pick Preston Smith (eight sacks as a rookie) and 2014 second-rounder Trent Murphy (23 career starts).

Redskins' Junior Galette: Inks one-year deal
by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com

Galette has signed a one-year deal to remain with Washington, ESPN.com reports.

Per the report, retaining the pass rusher will cost the team, at most, $4 million. Galette, who turns 28 on March 27, will thus look to establish his role in the Washington defense this year after missing the 2015 season with a torn Achilles' tendon. Prior to his injury, while with the Saints, Galette recorded back-to-back double-digit sack campaigns in 2013 and 2014.
