Cowboys DE Greg Hardy suffers strain in side
by Elliott Smith | Staff Writer

Cowboys defensive end Greg Hardy suffered a strain in his left side during Thursday's practice, which the team said is not considered serious, per the Dallas Morning News.

Hardy told fans "I'm invicible," as he signed autographs after practice. The Cowboys training staff was checking out Hardy after practice as a precautionary measure.

"To be honest with you, with Greg right from the start, he was actually going too hard," Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said. "He was going too hard in the weight room and too hard on the field early on in the offseason."

Cowboys' Hardy could take legal action to further reduce suspension
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com

Although an arbitrator reduced Greg Hardy's suspension from 10 to four games, the Cowboys defensive end could consider legal action to have the suspension reduced even more, as the NFLPA contends based on the personal conduct policy in place when Hardy’s arrest for domestic violence occurred that he should miss only two games.

A decision on whether Hardy accepts the four-game ban or takes legal action against the league is expected soon, and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Wednesday the next step is completely up to Hardy.

The Cowboys signed Hardy in March before commissioner Roger Goodell suspended Hardy for 10 games for “conduct detrimental to the league.”

“What I’m proud of it is that we have seen that he’s a serious influence to the tempo, to the passion, to the competitiveness of practicing that probably will carry over to games,” Jones said, per the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “That’s a great deal. I’m just glad to have him out there. I’m glad to have him on the field. So from that standpoint, I’m pleased that we’re going to having his contribution this year.”

Greg Hardy has suspension reduced from 10 to four games
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com

Cowboys defensive end Greg Hardy had his suspension reduced from 10 to four games, the NFL announced Friday.

A judge found Hardy guilty of domestic violence in July 2014 and sentenced him to 18 months probation after suspending a 60-day jail sentence. The NFL suspended Hardy 10 games in April, noting that Hardy violated the league's personal conduct policy.

“After consideration of all the record evidence and arguments, I conclude that the Commissioner acted within his authority and properly exercised his discretion in finding that Hardy violated the NFL Personal Conduct Policy,” arbitrator Harold Henderson said in a statement Friday. “I find that the conduct of Hardy clearly violates the letter and spirit of any version of the PCP since its inception, and of the NFL Constitution and Bylaws long before then. The egregious conduct exhibited here is indefensible in the NFL.

“However, 10 games is simply too much, in my view, of an increase over prior cases without notice such as was done last year, when the ‘baseline’ for discipline in domestic violence or sexual assault cases was announced as a six-game suspension. Therefore, the discipline of Mr. Hardy hereby is modified to a suspension of four games; all other terms of the discipline letter remain in place.”

Cowboys impressed with Greg Hardy's performance on the field
by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com

While Cowboys linebacker Greg Hardy waits to hear the appeal on his 10-game suspension, he has been able to participate in the team's OTA sessions, which has left a favorable impression on his teammates, reports The Dallas Morning News.

"He's explosive," tight end Jason Witten said. "He plays until the whistle blows… To have a guy come in and play that way, I think, speaks volumes for what kind of character he is and what kind of individual he is."

Moreover, Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said Wednesday he wasn't sure when the final decision on Hardy's suspension would be made.

"I think it's usually two weeks, is the time frame," he said. "I don't think it's a rule or anything, but that's usually what you expect. Sometimes it can be sooner."
