TE Patrick suspended four games: Cardinals tight end Ben Patrick has been suspended for four games for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy. Patrick tested positive for the drug Adderall, an amphetamine, his agent Kevin Omell said on Monday. "He literally took one pill one time driving back from Flagstaff to keep him awake," Omell said. According to Omell, Patrick got the pill from a friend who had used the drug to stay up late studying. "It was a completely honest mistake and he's really remorseful," Omell said.

A seventh-round draft pick out of Delaware in 2007, Patrick caught a touchdown pass in Arizona's Super Bowl loss to Pittsburgh. He caught 11 passes for 104 yards in the regular season last year and was expected to compete for the starting job in training camp. He's not worth a look in Fantasy play.

TE Ben Patrick, a leading contender for the starting job, has been suspended the first four games of the season for violating the league's steroid and other banned substances policy. According to his agent, Patrick tested positive for Adderall, which he took one time to stay awake on a long drive. Patrick has known for months about the positive test, so it's likely the team knew, too. With Patrick's suspension coming, the Cardinals signed veteran Anthony Becht and Dominique Byrd this offseason, giving them six tight ends on the roster. 61/8/2009
