This era of weak production from featured backs around the NFL hasn't affected
McCoy has rushed for at least 77 yards in each of his last three games. He is second in the NFL on the season with 1,088 yards and his 4.7 YPC average ranks second among backs with more than 150 carries. He is also one of the most productive pass-catchers out of the backfield with 39 receptions for 435 yards.
But such sterling numbers come with a precaution on Sunday. Week 14 opponent Detroit has been lights-out against the run all year. They rank third in the NFL with 992 rushing yards surrendered, sixth in touchdowns yielded on the ground with five and fourth in average yards given up per attempt at 3.7.
There is a reason McCoy ranks between sixth and 12th among NFL backs by the three CBSSports.com senior Fantasy writers. He remains a No. 1 option in all formats, but keep in mind that he has had several off-days this year, including five games with 55 yards rushing or less, and this could be one of them.
McCoy lost 37 rushing yards in the fourth quarter when a long run was called back for an illegal block. He also missed two touchdown opportunities, as the Eagles went with Zach Ertz and Brent Celek on passing scores from within the 10-yard line in the first and second quarters, respectively.
This was the second straight game with fewer than 80 rushing yards for McCoy, and the fifth time in his last seven games with fewer than 80. Conversely, it was the fourth time in the last seven with 30 or more receiving yards.
The Eagles face the Lions in Week 14.
Coming off a bye, McCoy's legs will be fresh, and any possible hamstring issues (he left Week 11 in the second quarter, but returned to start the second half) are behind him. To balance that out, though, McCoy has to face Arizona in Week 13. The Cardinals have allowed the fewest Fantasy points per game to opposing running backs; they've allowed just three running backs to score this season. And in the last four games, only one player has run for more than 50 yards against the Cardinals, with just one 100-yard rusher on the year.
McCoy is an elite back with fresh legs and a high-powered offense behind him. Arizona has been tricky for running backs all season long. You'll have to downgrade McCoy a bit for the tough matchup, but it'd be from No. 3 among running backs to No. 6. He should be started in all Fantasy formats.
