Chiefs rule Donnie Avery, Chris Owens out against Rams

The Chiefs have labeled wide receiver Donnie Avery (groin) and cornerback Chris Owens (knee) out for Sunday's Week 8 clash against the Rams.

Junior Hemingway (hamstring) was the only player listed on the final injury report as questionable. Meanwhile, Travis Kelce (ribs), Sean Smith (groin), Cyrus Gray (hand) and Justin Houston (ankle) were all full participants in Friday's practice and were officially deemed probable.

Chiefs wide receiver Junior Hemingway has been ruled out for the remainder of his team's Week 7 game against the Chargers with a hamstring injury, the team announced. Hemingway had one target in the game before exiting but did not record a catch.

With wideout Donnie Avery sidelined, Junior Hemingway led the Chiefs with four catches for 50 yards in the Week 5 loss at San Francisco. Hemingway did all his damage in the first half, catching all four of his targets.

Hemingway has eight catches for 89 yards entering the Week 6 bye.

Role players step up for the Chiefs in Week 3 win

The Chiefs received minor contributions from several role players in a Week 3 win over Miami.

Fullback Anthony Sherman took one carry for four yards and caught one pass for one yard. Anthony Fasano, Junior Hemingway and Donnie Avery were each limited to two grabs on the afternoon. Fasano registered 23 yards, Hemingway picked up 18 yards and Avery finished with 12 yards in a 34-15 victory.

Chiefs backups don't do much Week 2

The Chiefs backup pass catchers couldn't do much Week 2 against the Broncos.

Anthony Fasano was the most impressive of the bunch, hauling in three passes for 39 yards. Junior Hemingway caught 2 passes for 21 yards during the outing. Both A.J. Jenkins and Donnie Avery each caught three balls, but gained 16 and 14 yards respectively. 

Tight end Demetrius Harris pulled in one ball for 10 yards. Running back Cyrus Gray didn't have any catches, but carried the ball twice for 8 yards. 

They'll take on the Dolphins Week 3.
