Carlos Pena homers in second game Wednesday

Rangers first baseman Carlos Pena went 2 for 5 with a solo home run in his team's 8-6 loss to the Tigers Wednesday.

It was the second straight start at first base for Pena, who was brought up from Triple-A Round Rock Tuesday. Including an 0-for-4 performance in his season debut, Pena has hit .222/.222/.556 in nine at-bats.

Rangers add Carlos Pena to roster

The Rangers announced Tuesday they purchased the contract of first baseman Carlos Pena from Triple-A Round Rock. Pena hit .333 with one double, one home run and two RBI in seven games for Round Rock.

Rangers sign Carlos Pena to minor-league deal

The Rangers signed 36-year-old first baseman Carlos Pena to a Triple-A contract and assigned him to Round Rock, reports Pena was released by the Angels in March.

With the Astros and Royals last year, Pena batted .207 with eight homers and 25 RBI in 280 at-bats.

Three veterans released among Angels moves Sunday

The Angels announced Sunday they released Carlos Pena, Yorvit Torrealba and Chad Tracy. Sunday was the deadline to put them on the 40-man roster.

The Angels also reassigned pitcher Wade LeBlanc to minor-league camp.

Angels agree to deals with Brennan Boesch, Carlos Pena

The Angels have agreed to minor-league deals with outfielder Brennan Boesch and first baseman Carlos Pena, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Boesch hit .275/.302/.529 with three home runs and eight RBI in 51 at-bats before being released by the Yankees in July. He was optioned to the minors in late May and suffered a shoulder injury before his release.

Pena hit .209/.324/.350 with eight home runs and 25 RBI in 277 at-bats with the Astros last season before being released at the end of July. He eventually landed in Kansas City but was just 0 for 3 with the Royals.
