Carney out, Tynes in for Giants?: The New York Daily News reports that the Giants will let 44-year-old field-goal kicker John Carney test free agency this offseason while keeping Lawrence Tynes, who missed 15 games and made one field goal and three extra points, on the roster. Tynes hurt his left knee in early August, which opened the door for Carney to come on board and hit 35-of-38 field goals and 38 extra points. Carney is not considering retirement and will try to find a new job in the league.

Fantasy Analysis

We loved Carney with the Giants and never liked Tynes, but any kicker with the Giants will have plenty of field-goal opportunities as long as they keep running the ball. Tynes is at best a No. 2 kicker, though, as he's missed his fair share of field goals and extra points over his career, and there's no telling how good of a kicker he'll be coming off of a season where a knee injury forced him to the sideline. With there being 31 other kicking options out there, look elsewhere for a kicker ... at least until Carney signs somewhere.
