Vikings' Michael Floyd: Allegedly violates terms of house arrest
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Floyd allegedly tested positive for alcohol this week, violating terms of his house arrest, TMZ Sports reports.

Floyd served a 24-day jail sentence this spring after pleading guilty to extreme DUI following a December arrest in Arizona. Upon his release from jail, Floyd was ordered to serve 96 days on house arrest, but was allowed to transfer his sentence from Arizona to Minnesota so he could partake in offseason practices with the Vikings. As part of that sentence, Floyd was prohibited from having any alcohol and was required to undergo random breath tests to ensure of it. According to the report, Floyd tested positive for alcohol on five occasions this week, including three "high alcohol tests." While he allegedly blamed the positive tests on a fermented tea that contains trace amounts of alcohol, Floyd's blood alcohol concentration was reportedly far higher than the tea's content would've made it. If the court rules that Floyd indeed broke the terms of his house arrest, the wideout could face a return to jail.

Vikings' Michael Floyd: House arrest transferred to Minnesota
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Floyd will be able to start practicing with the Vikings next week after having the remainder of his 96-day house arrest transferred from Arizona to Minnesota, Ben Goessling of reports.

Floyd, a St. Paul native, will be able to finish his sentence near the Vikings' facilities and therefore participate in the team's upcoming OTAs. He signed a one-year contract with Minnesota earlier this May, while the front office understands that he might face NFL discipline to begin the season after pleading guilty to extreme DUI. Floyd has proven to be effective as an NFL receiver, racking up 24 touchdowns throughout his five-year career. He'll still need to battle against 2016 first-rounder Laquon Treadwell and Jarius Wright for the No. 3 spot on the depth chart at wideout.

Vikings' Michael Floyd: Signs with Minnesota
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Floyd signed a contract Wednesday with the Vikings, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Floyd decision to join the Vikings isn't particularly surprising after it was reported on Friday that he was in talks with the team on a contract. The 27-year old receiver spent 13 games with the Cardinals last season before being released due to a DUI arrest and finishing the campaign with the Patriots, though he didn't make much of an impact in New England's run to the Super Bowl. Pending further league discipline, Floyd will compete for a roster spot with the Vikings in training camp, and could wind up as one of the team's top three options at wideout in 2017 if he reemerges as the downfield threat he was for Arizona from 2013 to 2015.

Michael Floyd: Drawing interest from Vikings
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Floyd is talking with the Vikings and other teams, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.

Floyd was released by the Cardinals in December after a DUI arrest, and while he caught on with the Patriots shortly thereafter, he was a healthy scratch for the AFC championship game and Super Bowl. He then pleaded guilty to the DUI and served a 24-day jail sentence that concluded in early March, right around the time the 2017 league year started. Floyd didn't draw much (if any) known interest in the early stages of free agency, suggesting he may have to compete for a roster spot wherever he ends up signing. The Vikings would be a strong fit for the St. Paul native, giving him a shot rejuvenate his career with his hometown team -- a squad that just so happens to have a shaky wideout depth chart behind Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen. The Vikes might give Floyd a shot to compete with 2016 first-round pick Laquon Treadwell for a spot in three-wide formations.

Patriots' Michael Floyd: Pleads guilty to extreme DUI
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Floyd pleaded guilty to extreme DUI and began serving a 24-day sentence at Maricopa County Jail on Thursday, FOX 10 Phoenix reports.

Floyd was charged with seven counts, including extreme DUI and failure to obey a policy officer after he was found passed out behind the wheel of his car at a Scottsdale, Arizona intersection in December. The receiver was released by the Cardinals immediately after that incident, but later signed with the Patriots for the remainder of the season. Following his sentencing, Floyd will serve 24 days behind bars before spending 96 days on house arrest. He'll also be required to pay a $5,000 fine, perform community service and attend an alcohol abuse class. While discipline from the NFL also potentially awaits, so too does Floyd's unrestricted free agency this offseason.
