Giants backup pass catchers do little Week 7
by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com

The Giants backup pass catchers did little Week 7 against the Cowboys.

Rueben Randle had a decent game. He caught six passes for 74 yards. He was overshadowed in the red zone by teammate Odell Beckham Jr. during the contest. Randle did receive a team-high nine targets.

Daniel Fells only caught one pass, but made it count. In the second quarter, Fells grabbed a 27 yard touchdown from Eli Manning. Preston Parker caught two passes, gaining 19 yards.

All three players are on a bye Week 8.

Is either Giants wide receiver worth using?
by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer

The Giants will begin life without top wide receiver Victor Cruz Week 7 at Dallas, leaving Rueben Randle and Odell Beckham to pick up the slack. So should you be looking to start them in Fantasy?

In Beckham's case, not yet. The rookie will be playing in only his third game after missing the first four with a hamstring injury, but as the 12th overall pick in the draft, he obviously has the potential to be an impact player. Let's just see him put together a 50-yard game first.

Randle is a different story because he was already a major part of the passing game before Cruz went down, actually leading the Giants in targets with 49. He's gotten at least nine in each of the last four games.

Of course, he doesn't have the yardage to show for it, so at least in standard leagues (as in non-PPR), he's still an iffy option. He probably will pick up some of Cruz's slack and become a more advisable option across the board, but this isn't the best matchup to test him out. Though the Cowboys rank a modest 12th against the pass, they've allowed the third-fewest Fantasy points per game this season.

Both Jamey Eisenberg and Dave Richard rank Randle right around 30th at wide receiver for this week.

Victor Cruz injuries gives others chance to emerge
by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer

It's official. Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz has a torn patellar tendon in his right knee and will have season-ending surgery, leaving quarterback Eli Manning without his favorite target.

Or at least one of his favorites.

Turns out Cruz wasn't even the Giants' most-targeted receiver through the first six games. Rueben Randle was and becomes the clear No. 1 with Cruz out. He again led the way in targets with nine Week 6 at Philadelphia. He had a modest 58 yards on five catches, but let's not forget Manning threw for only 151.

Odell Beckham probably gets the biggest bump with Cruz's injury. Playing only his second game after missing the first four with a hamstring injury, he was targeted four times in Week 6, catching two passes for 28 yards. But he was on the field for 88 percent of the Giants snaps and showed his playmaking ability in Week 5, even scoring a touchdown. On a day when the Giants don't face a defense playing at its best, Beckham could impress.

Tight end Larry Donnell could get back to being a bigger part of the game plan with Cruz down. After catching 25 passes for 236 yards in the Giants' first four games, he has just one catch for 6 yards in their last two. He's probably already owned in your league, as is Randle, but Cruz's injury is enough incentive to stick with him a little longer.

Giants begin task of replacing WR Victor Cruz
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com

How do the Giants replace Victor Cruz? Quarterback Eli Manning said the team must move on and figure out its best lineups without Cruz, who tore his patella tendon Sunday night at Philadelphia.

"What are going to be our best formations? What are going to be our best ways of putting people in position to do what they do best that will help out the team?" Manning told the team's website. "We have to be smart and creative with that and make sure guys, when they are on the field, are going to be able to play fast and know exactly what they are doing."

Coach Tom Coughlin called Cruz "a very, very, positive and popular young man who has meant an awful lot to this franchise. Just by virtue of his work ethic and the fact that he is a Pro Bowl playmaker. It is another test for the team. I was going to say the offensive side of the ball, but really for our team."

Cruz ranked third on the team with 23 catches for 337 yards and a touchdown. The website said Rueben Randle unofficially becomes the No. 1 receiver with rookie Odell Beckham Jr., Preston Parker and untested Corey Washington also helping fill the void.

"I think Preston Parker has demonstrated he can play inside, and he can play outside," Coughlin said. "The issue with Preston Parker has been the ball security issue, but as far as his learning multiple positions, he has done that. Corey Washington has played basically on the outside and has done a pretty good job of learning. He practices throughout the week with multiple reps, whatever day it might be. Even in a two-minute drill, he takes reps. He has had multiple opportunities to work."

Rueben Randle paces Giants in receiving
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com

Giants receiver Rueben Randle led the team with five catches for 58 yards in the shutout loss at Philadelpia, and he figures to be the No. 1 wideout going forward with Victor Cruz tearing his patella tendon Sunday. Randle drew a team-high nine targets after getting 10 each of the previous three games.

Randle will visit the Cowboys in Week 7.
