Andre Roberts eager to be part of return game
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com

Redskins receiver Andre Roberts is competing to be the team's kickoff and punt returner. He told CSNWashington.com he's eager to make an impact not just as a receiver but on special teams.

“I feel like I’m one of those players who when he gets the ball in his hands he can make some big plays,” he said.

It's unlikely the Redskins will use Roberts as the primary option on both kick and punt returns. If he had to choose, he'd return kickoffs. In his career he's returned 16 kickoffs for an average of 22.4 yards.

Andre Roberts unhappy with new situation in Washington
by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer

When Andre Roberts signed with the Redskins, he saw himself as the No. 2 receiver opposite Pierre Garcon. But that vision was wrecked when the Skins signed DeSean Jackson earlier this month.

Roberts called the signing "frustrating."

"I felt great coming into [2013] and I was hoping I could better my stats and help the offense more," Roberts told ESPN. "But I wasn't able to do that. Being a competitor and a receiver who wants the ball every play -- you obviously can't get the ball every play -- but I have that mentality. Whenever there's a pass play I want the ball in my hands and I think I can do something special with it. When you don't get the opportunity, it was definitely really frustrating for me."

Roberts figures to be the third receiver for the Redskins this season, provided Jackson and Garcon stay healthy. He also assumes he'll return kickoffs and punts, which appeals to him.

Why DeSean Jackson is a good fit for Redskins
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com

DeSean Jackson's skill set will mesh with the Redskins' offense and quarterback Robert Griffin III, according to ESPN.com. "Griffin's ability to throw the deep ball sits well with Jackson's penchant for catching them in the past," the report said. "It's what Jackson does best, and it's why he scares a defense so much.

"Griffin might not have a laser arm like Michael Vick -- few do -- but it's a very good arm and it's certainly one that should connect with Jackson down the field. Oh, there's also Griffin's ability to extend plays with a group as fast as this one. That, too, should lead to headaches for opposing defensive coordinators in the week leading up to facing this offense."

Jackson joins wideouts Pierre Garcon and Andre Roberts and tight end Jordan Reed to give Griffin four dangerous targets. The improved passing game also should open up running lanes for Alfred Morris.

Andre Roberts says Redskins will be pass-first team
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com

The Redskins ranked third and 13th in rushing attempts the past two seasons. New receiver Andre Roberts anticipates Washington going pass-heavy in 2014 with new coach Jay Gruden and a healthier Robert Griffin III.

Roberts told ESPN.com he bases his belief on Gruden's approach as Cincinnati's offensive coordinator and on a conversation he had with former Bengals quarterback John Skelton.

“He was telling me about his style of coaching and what he likes to do and how he likes to use players,” Roberts said. “I think we’ll be passing more than running. We’ll have plenty of talent at the running back and receiver position for Robert to throw the ball around a little bit.”

Roberts described the attack as a passing offense "for the most part."

Andre Roberts won't be limited to the slot
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com

Coaches told new Redskins receiver Andre Roberts that he'll line up all over the field, reports the Washington Times. He said it's similar to how he was used last season in Arizona, when he caught 43 passes for 471 yards and two touchdowns.

“What most people don’t know is Larry [Fitzgerald] was our slot guy last year,” Roberts said. “I spent a lot [of time] on the outside. I did move into the inside when we went to four-receiver sets, but for the most part, I played a lot of outside. But they had us moving around a lot in that offense. That was one of [coach] Bruce Arians‘ things — he didn’t want anyone to be keyed on. Larry played a lot in the slot to create that different mindset.”
