The Broncos have waived defensive end Quanterus Smith, the Denver Post reports. The team confirmed the move Tuesday.

Smith played in 15 games last season as DeMarcus Ware's backup on the line, recording 11 tackles and no sacks. He was placed on the injured reserve with a knee injury before the team's divisional-round loss against the Colts. His role next season could go to Shaquil Barrett, who was added to the roster before that playoff loss.
