Texans' Lamar Miller: Workload to be monitored
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Miller's workload is something the Texans hope to manage better during the 2017 season, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Miller missed Houston's final two regular season games due to shoulder, ankle and rib injuries, which came after he racked up a career-high 299 touches through just 14 games. While an increased workload was part of what made Miller's fantasy stock more appealing with the Texans than it previously was with the Dolphins, such exertion took its toll over the course of the campaign. Admittedly, Houston's at times horrid passing game left little alternative to calling Miller's number, so along with looking to improve through the air this year, the team try to remain mindful of Miller's backfield duties in hopes of better preserving him for the long haul.

Texans' Lamar Miller: Posts 73 yards rushing in divisional-round loss
by RotoWire Staff | Special to

Miller totaled 73 yards on 19 carries and secured four of seven targets for 16 yards in Saturday's 34-16 divisional-round loss to the Patriots.

The Texans were able to stick with the running game until late into the contest, as they surprisingly hung tough into the fourth quarter. Miller responded with another strong outing, and his four receptions tied him for second on the team with backfield mate Jonathan Grimes. Miller posted 73 yards rushing apiece in each of Houston's two postseason contests, and he acquitted himself impressively with the career-high 268 carries he saw in 2016. The former Miami Hurricane topped the 1,000-yard mark for the second time in his career over 14 games, while also serving as a valuable part of the passing game with 31 receptions.

Texans' Lamar Miller: Season-high 31 carries Saturday
by RotoWire Staff | Special to

Miller rushed 31 times for 73 yards and had a four-yard touchdown run in Houston's 27-14 win over Oakland in their AFC wild-card round playoff game Saturday.

The rushing attempts were a season high for Miller, who was expected to carry a big load after being shut down the final two weeks of the season. While the Raiders defense managed to hold him in check, Miller didn't have to come up with a huge performance against a team led by a rookie quarterback making his first NFL start. The Texans cashed in on some short fields early, got effective quarterback play and were able to run out the clock in the second half. Despite Miller's limited impact Saturday, the Texans will roll out the same game plan next weekend against either New England or Kansas City.

Texans' Lamar Miller: Good to go this weekend
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Miller (ankle) did not draw an injury designation for Saturday's playoff game against the Raiders.

After practicing in full this week, Miller is in line to return to the Texans' starting lineup Saturday after being held out of the team's last two regular season tilts. Miller relayed to the Houston Chronicle that he's feeling refreshed in advance of Saturday's contest. "I think it helped me out a lot," Miller said of his time off. "I feel fresh right now. I feel good." Look for Miller, who carried 268 times for 1,073 yards and five TDs in 14 games this season, to be busy this weekend in a game that could lean toward the run, with Brock Osweiler starting at QB for the Texans and Connor Cook helming the Raiders offense.

Miller (ankle) practiced fully Wednesday.

In the absence of any setbacks as the week progresses, Miller is set to return to the Texans' starting lineup Saturday against the Raiders after missing the last two games of the regular season with an ankle injury. In doing so, Miller, who carried 268 times for 1,073 yards and five TDs in 14 games this season, will be making his NFL postseason debut.
