Browns DT Phil Taylor nearly back from knee injury
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com

The Browns have claimed that defensive tackle Phil Taylor is in the final stages of rehab after undergoing knee surgery in November and that he expects to participate in some drills at the June mini-camp.

"I'll be ready," he said.

Mike Pettine has declared that the 330-pound Taylor, whose loss last year played a role in the team ranking last in the NFL against the run, will be moved from defensive end to nose tackle. That could result in an interesting dynamic considering that first-round pick Danny Shelton also plays in the middle. But Taylor isn't complaining.

"I'm going to do whatever I have to do for the team," he said. "Wherever the coaches want me to play, I'll play. That's why our coach tells us to learn every position on the defensive line."

Browns beset with injuries heading into Week 11 clash
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com

The worst news for the Browns is that tight end Jordan Cameron (concussion) is out Sunday against Houston and could be done for the season, and defensive tackle Phillip Taylor (knee) is out for the year. But aside from special teams player Johnson Bademosi (concussion) being ruled out for the game against the Texans, the team is relatively healthy.

An exception could be safety Tashaun Gipson (concussion), who is questionable. The probables are defensive end Desmond Bryant (wrist), wideout Andrew Hawkins (thigh/knee), linebacker Barkevious Mingo (shoulder) and defensive tackle Billy Winn (toe).

Browns' Phil Taylor will be placed on IR list
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com

The Browns will place defensive lineman Phil Taylor (knee) on the season-ending injured reserve list, coach Mike Pettine told reporters, per the News Herald. Taylor returned from a four-game absence in Week 10 against Cincinnati, but may have aggravated the injury. He is expected to undergo surgery in the near future.
